Outside my window… it's windy and rainy, Winter seems to have hit us!

I am thinking… about the people have disappointed me lately, and am holding back tears.

I am thankful for… the people who truly care about me. You know who you are.

From the kitchen… comes lots of cups o' tea. I hate cooking.

I am wearing… ancient skirt, warm orangy brown cardi, and a khaki t-shirt. And a badge that Miss Gemma made me.

I am creating… a parallel universe in my head.

I am going… to make it through the day and achieve some work.

I am reading… knitting patterns.

I am hoping… always.

I am hearing… 'Hater's Union' by Steve Poltz is playing on my iPod.

Around the house… is a shambles. I've stopped caring.

One of my favourite things… is Ozzy, even though past behaviour this week has been bad, I still love him to death.

Just a minute - in April

I've been meaning to play along for a while - usually everytime I read one of Curlypops' entries, but reading Jenaveve's blog this morning reminded me.

So - it's just a minute.

Making...

My mind up...about my life and where I'm going. But no decisions yet.

Everything is a WIP right now. I cast on and cast away. One day I'll finish something. Right now my head's not in it. Thank god for embroidery patterns.

Watching...

the wheels go round. I just love to watch them roll. No longer riding on the merry-go-round, I just had to let it go. On a side note, itunes does not seem to sell any Beatles (even though that's Lennon I'm quoting there) ...what is that about? Anyone know?

On the screen - watched '16 Candles' again over Easter, 'VH1 Storytellers' with Broooce, and in our household the teev usually stays on Discovery/Discovery Science. And I'll always tune in to 'Top Gear'.

Listening...

Just got the Decemberists new album. It hasn't really grabbed me though, I'm not really enjoying the "concept". Had an itunes moment and downloaded a lot of old Jesus and Mary Chain on the weekend. Also got the new Bob Evans on itunes, but haven't listened yet.

Whatever-ing...

You all know most of my whatevering goes on via Facebook. I tend to leave it running in the evenings while I spud on the couch, and someone or other will usually make me laugh. Lots.

And I really need/want a holiday. Away.

Not really, although I nod off on the couch often, but usually instead of going to bed like a good girl.

Miss Gemma, in the street at the sushi bar, Monday night.

What’s your current obsession/addiction?
I don’t think anyone would disagree if I said I was addicted to Facebook. How sad.

Which item from your closet are you wearing most lately?
Ahem. Nat will be disappointed to hear that I don’t wear anything from my closet, but from the bedroom chair. Most worn, probably the floral georgette frock. I love a good frock!

What's for dinner?
Thursday = fish and chip night. Friday is just too busy.

What was the last thing you bought?
Some songs from i-tunes. And I must get the new Decemberists album too.

What are you listening to right now?
The i-pod on random, Gin Blossoms, ‘Hey Jealousy’. A bit daggy I know, but that song speaks to me. I’m also a bit irked because my music has either inspired or annoyed the person in the office next door, and now they’re listening to music REALLY loudly. At least it’s Regina Spektor I guess.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Invisibility. I could get up to all sorts of mischief!

What time do you usually get up?
Between 7 and 9 depending if it’s a work day or not. Some weekends I’m in bed till about 11. I love my bed.

What is your most challenging goal right now?
Getting fit. Of course, actually doing something about it would be a start.

If you could have a house–totally paid for, fully furnished–anywhere in the world, where would you want it to be?
That’s a hard one. Somewhere with a lot of acreage, preferably by the coast.

Favorite vacation spot?
Anywhere away from people, near a beach. One day I’ll get my arse overseas, hopefully to Japan.

What is your favorite item of clothing? <- I don’t care about this question really. I’ll replace it with: What are your favourite character traits in people? Kindness, humour and intelligence. I really don’t care about money or status or what job you do.

Favorite pair of shoes you keep going back to over and over, even though your closet is overflowing with a zillion others: Currently black strappy flats. I have to keep an eye on all my shoes, otherwise Lola chews them up. Grr.

Name one thing you cannot live without:
Music. Loud. I think the hearing in my right ear is damaged. Unfortunate side effect.

What was the last movie that you saw?
Umm, something on Foxtel the other night. Wtf was it called? I’ll get back to you.

Dirty Harry. I LOVE Clint.

Extra question: What was your favourite toy when you were a kid?
My all time fave was Lionel, my stuffed lion. As a kid I loved lions (and I still do), and always wanted a pet one. But I had to make do with Lionel. I’ve still got him, but I don’t cuddle him in bed anymore.

More things about me:
1. Even though I ate LOTS of them as a uni student, I still love 2 minute noodles, and am always happy to partake.
2. I am easily overwhelmed by life, events, and a full calendar. This is mostly due to my depression/bipolar, and I need lots of quiet time for just me.
3. I would like to be able to swing dance, dress up like a Rockabilly chick, go to a dance party and be a hep cat. Alas, I'm not a very good dancer.
4. I must always go to the toilet before I leave the house. I think this is a habit instilled in me by my parents. However, on family drives, we'd always have to stop so dad could go to the toilet.
5. I have about 5 "regular" tea cups at work, all with varying states of dirtiness. Right now I have a tray full of dishes on the corner of my desk waiting to be washed. The fairies haven't taken them away yet. Meh.
7. I have no concept of time...an hour turns into a day, a day to a week, week to a month...and I still haven't done what I was meant to do, say, six weeks ago.
8. I LIKE Facebook. I know people say there's exes and old schoolmates they don't want to find (ignore! ignore!), but there's also old friends and family members that I didn't talk to enough, and now I do regularly via Facebook chat. That's gotta be a good thing.
9. Bonus one: I like Britney! ahahahahh!

This is...something I'm surprised that I like

I'd never been here before until I met my husband over 10 years ago ...and now I'm a Frankytown resident. (HP refused to move to the city.) The place has a bad reputation, as the home of bogans and general scrotes, but like any large town, it has it's good points and bad.

Bad =
-Railway station, smells like pee and always has dodgy types asking you for cash. Further to that, the train ride seems to take agggggggggggges
-Young Street, especially near Railway Station crossing
-NQR in Beach Street is always full of deadshits (but I still shop there)
-Obnoxious people at the pubs/nightclubs on the weekends (but that could be anywhere)
-The fact that the lovely Art Deco building that was once the Post Office is now Kittens fanny-dancing club
-The fact that the stip style Nepean Hwy shopping centre has suffered as a result of the big enclosed shopping centre development a few blocks over
-The Peninsula Centre - the biggest eyesore on the landscape

Good =
-I live here!
-Proximity to beaches, bays and the goodness of the Mornington Peninsula
-Op-shop joy - I seem to be in the minority in my love for vintage goods and recyclable kitsch
-The new Waterfront development is looking fab
-The view from Oliver's Hill
-Big Spotlight 3 minutes from my house
-High availablity of snot blocks
-Can always park near your house - none of that parking 4 blocks away like I had to when I lived in St Kilda
-Local library = excellent
-Mornington Main Street shopping 15 minutes away

-I'm here! (oops I already said that.)

When I first moved down this way, it was a bit of a culture shock and I didn't think I'd get used to it...but it's okay. 10 years later, don't ask me for street directions, I still couldn't tell you, but I like living here. But that doesn't mean I'll be here forever...

High Fidelty meets Rockwiz meme

Becky over at the Small stuff has a rather goodly musical post in response to last week's Fave Friday theme, so I thought I'd play her meme too.

1. Your first musical idol.

A couple - Rolf Harris - all that singing songs, wobble boards and painting. And the Beatles - because of that Beatles cartoon that used to be on.
Also as kids we used to love the episode of the Goodies 'Almost Live' where they sung various songs... I can still sing you 'Throwin' Up' or 'Cactus in my Y-Fronts' or 'Funky Gibbon' or 'Nappy Love' to this very day.

2. Your biggest musical shame/embarrassment.

Probably the fact that as a teenager I did indeed go to Band Camp.

3. Your special musical talent?

Mine's a bit like Becky's here, I can make up words to songs and make them fit, or make up silly songs on the spur of the moment. HP is the mega-talent at this, his silly songs are extremely good. We like a good sing along.

4. A musical thing that you wouldn't do in public.

Does dancing count as a musical thing? You won't get me to dance.

5. The last band you saw live.

Was the Moffs last month, for old times' sake. I was supposed to go and see the Reels and the Models the other week, but totally mixed the dates up and missed it (I had a ticket and all!!) Spewin' mate, because I LOVE Dave Mason. (How cute is this clip from 1988? By the way Reels = embrace the irony and sillyness and just enjoy)

6. Favourite live music experience.

Argh so many! The Go-Betweens on my 18th birthday are a pretty good memory.

7. If you could see any band/musician live tomorrow, who would it be?
The Avett Brothers. I know they're all hairy and not purty and all, but they kill me. Listen to this one:

1. I have a "thing" for redheads. Yes my husband is one. He also is fond of redheads - to me this seems wrong, like marrying your cousin or something. I don't have anything at all for Ritchie Cunningham though.
   


2. I could never EVER EVER jump hurdles at school sports. My brain would shut down and I'd get all un-co. So I'd run up to the first one, then stop and walk away.
   


3. I can't drive a manual car...I was too lazy to learn when I did my driving test. And I didn't get my license until I was 26.
   


4. I am not SCARED of the dentist anymore. But I still have to run off to the loo a couple of times while I'm in the waiting room.
   


5. I have a crush on Charley Boorman. I think Ewan McGregor is a knob because he falls off his motorbike all the time.

11 details - me too

Saw this here, and so I thought I'd do it too (whatya mean I'm putting in anything I can think of for Blogtoberfest?! haahhah)

Eleven Details About Me:
1. Clothes shop – anything that fits really. I'm not a label snob. And I'm trying to make my own stuff now.
2. Furniture shop – most of my furniture originally came from the Chapel St Bazaar, and the newspaper classifieds. Now it's side of the road, DIY or recycled.
3. Sweet – cake, chocolate. Chocolate cake?! Snot blocks (from the Sorrento cake shop...best!) Those long donuts with the mock cream and jam and the choccy icing. Mmmm donuts. I must say though, I don't think Krispy Kreme are particularly exciting at all.
4. City – Melbourne, Frankytown, and I quite like Adelaide. (Mmm Haigh's)
5. Drink – tea please.
6. Music - lots and lots, have a look at my Blogger profile. Big on the Beastie Boys, the Avett Brothers, Neil Young and Brooooce!
7. TV Series – Dexter - all the way! MASH is probably my favourite ever.
8. Film - Lots and lots...most fave is 'The Year My Voice Broke'. Most recent fave = 'Fur'.
9. Workout - What workout? I used to enjoy Body Pump class when I got my slack arse to the gym.
10. Pastries - bring 'em on!
11. Coffee – Latte. And I LOVE Chai Latte, although that doesn't count as coffee.
